Who's Yer Con 2019

Who's Yer Con is a free gaming convention held every year in the spring by a local gaming group as their way of giving back to the community. This year it was held over the weekend of March 22-24, 2019 at the Wyndham Indianapolis West, over by the airport. It's far too small for us to sell at, but since it's free, we can go there to game and hang out with friends and maybe take a look at the dealers' room

We'd had a little time to recover from the exhausting disappointment of Branson Con, but since I was still struggling with untreated hypothyroidism, with another week to wait until my appointment with the endocrinologist, I wasn't in much shape to really enjoy it. At least we just had to drive to the other side of town, not across the state, and we could come home each night to sleep in our own bed.

On Friday we headed over early to make sure we could get to registration as soon as it opened, before a huge line built up. My husband had an early game, and he really can't stand in a line of any great length because of his knees. Luckily we breezed right through registration and got our badges, and he was able to head off to his game.

I went over to my usual couch to sit, intending to get some writing done. However, I ended up falling asleep pretty quickly. I think I spent a good bit of time sleeping, other than when we did go over to take a look at the dealers' room. At least no one came around and hassled me about public sleeping, although I did chat with a number of fellow convention attendees.

After my husband's last game, we headed home. I did a little writing and got things ready for the next day before turning in.

On Saturday we had to get up earlier than I would've liked so we could get there in time for a very early gaming session my husband had signed up for. The parking lot was so full I had to park way in the back after dropping him off, which meant I had to trudge all the way through it to get into the hotel.

I found the Royal Manticorian Navy group at their table at last, and we did some talking about health and the joys of the medical system's hurry up and wait tendencies. Then I headed over to find a comfy sofa to sit. I did do a little online work, mostly setting up blog posts, but most of the time I slept, too exhausted to keep my eyes open.

In the evening my husband's last game ended quite early, so we decided to just go home rather than trying to find a game needing players. I had time to carry stuff out for Sunday and to do a little writing before we turned in for the night.

On Sunday we hurried back to the gaming convention. I made sure to get my hair done quickly, just in case I were called upon to take a public role at the Manticorean table. However, it turned out I wasn't needed, so I ended up spending most of my time sleeping or fiddling around on the Internet.

After my husband finished his last game, we headed back home. I was so weary that I was quite thoroughly ready for the con to be over and to be able to sleep in again.
